DRC is a regional network which currently involves 49 higher education institutions from 13 countries. Its objectives are to raise the general level of academic performance, to promote mobility, to reduce drop-out rates and to lower the cost of tertiary education.

In recent years DRC has grown considerably and its agenda has expanded. The network supported the establishment of the Central European Exchange Program for University Studies to foster multilateral cooperation in the region. Furthermore, it endorsed an integrated university model based on institutional autonomy. Finally, it established working groups to address the issues of university legislation, curricula and the evaluation of teaching and research.
